After suffering from water intrusion stemming from roof damage, a local church in East Hartford called us in to perform the water mitigation and subsequent repair work. Our mitigation scope consisted first of asbestos testing, to ensure the building materials were safe to remove. Next, the crew moved on to the demolition. The demo consisted of the removal of the carpeting, drywall wall and ceiling, and insulation. These materials were removed for a few reasons. Carpeting often becomes delaminated while water gets trapped in insulation and requires removal to ensure proper drying and prevent secondary damage. After demo, our crew cleaned and disinfected all the affected areas before setting up drying equipment to dry out the framing and subfloor. After the materials achieved the drying goals, our crew removed the equipment, completing the job. The church was left dry, clean, and ready to move right into repairs. Check back on the blog to see the repairs once we complete the repair work!
